S26 WRAP UP-THE QUARRY UPSET FILLED PLAYOFFS LAND HOOLIGANS ON TOP

Oct 8, 2026

The Hooligans finally got to the Championship podium after 8 seasons on the sideline, adding the Quarry League title to their mantle which also includes a Federal League title. James Coughlin's misfit crew of Hooligans took the 3 seed to the top of the mountain. The Hoo crew got a first round bye and then marched all over the powerful second seeded KHZ. Matthew Lescynski scored three times in period 2 to put the game out of reach. The Hooligans opponent in the finals would be the forth seeded Shamrocks who jumped right overt the 5th seeded Pterodactyls. They followed that win up with a 7-0 pounding over the first seeded Smoke who were 10-2 in the regular season. Compare that with a 3-9 mark for the Shamrocks and the game will go down officially as a major upset. Shamrocks forward John Rossi scored 7 times in the two games including a 6 game performance v the Smoke. The Shamrocks continued to roll in game one of the finals, shutting out the Hooligans with another shutout, this time by a 4-0 score. In the finals you need two games to earn the title and the Hooligans were not phased by the run the Shamrocks were on. Game two went the Hooligans 3-1 and all of the sudden its a winner take all game with the pressure not shifting to the Shamrocks. The Hooligans built a 2-0 lead in period two off a first period goal from Braden Darion and a second period snipe from Brian Seldon. The Shamrocks Scott Versace put the team on his scoring two times in the second thus evening the score. No third period goals were had and the teams headed into overtime. Chris Vitale of the Hooligans scored a goal he may never forget in the first overtime stanza and the Hooligans as result were Champions of The Quarry.

S26 PIONEER WRAP-UP RED BARONS SWEEP ODIN -TAKE CROWN

Oct 8, 2026

The Red Barons rode the 3 seed straight to the Pioneer League Summer 26 Championship, sweeping their rivals Team Odin in the finals. Team Odin had a breakout regular season, finishing with a 10-2 record. The Red Barons were 7-5 in the season campaign, which earned them a 3 seed. Odin had a first round bye and took on the Icemen who had defeated the Stingrays 4-1 in the opening round. Odin defeated the Icemen in the semis 6-4 off goals from 5 different scorers, 2 by Ryan Bolton. The Barons took down the Blue Tribe 8-4 powered in part by a hat trick from Cliff Simon. They then faced a surprise opponent in the Venom. The Venom scored 3 times in the final 3 minutes to upend the 2nd seeded Bombers in the opening round game. Venom was overmatched in the semis though, falling 9-4. Austin Miniger and Nick Reiniger both netted hatties in the victory. On paper it looked like Odin would have the advantage in the finals, beating the Red Barons twice in the regular season by identical 6-2 scores. But the Barons are a resilient crew and have found ways to win titles in 4 of their previous 5 seasons across multiple divisions. They were able to make that 6 in 7 campaigns sweeping Odin two games to none to win the Pioneer Championship. It was the Barons second Pioneer title in 3 seasons.

SUMMER 26 PATRIOT LEAGUE: CHILDREN OF DOOM WIN THE PATRIOT AND EARN FIRST TITLE

Oct 6, 2026

The Children of Doom earned their first ever title, winning the Patriot League Summer 26 Championship. The Doom turned the usually tightly bunched Patriot League on its head with a overpowering 10-2 regular season slate. One of their two losses was to the bottom dwelling Bomber OG squad who the Doom would face in the semis of the playoffs. Things got a little tense as the OG and Doom were tied at 2 after 2 periods. But Tom Eckert knows how to rally his club and 4 unanswered third period goals punched their ticket to the finals. The second seeded Terrapin needed overtime in their semifinal. They prevailed with a 2-1 victory over the defending champion Biohazards to set up the finals matchup. As seen in the semis, the Terrapin scoring prowess had dipped in the few weeks leading up to the playoffs and it was this deficiency that hindered the otherwise sound defensive club. The Children of Doom were able to hold the Terrapin down even more tightly, allowing just 1 goal by their rivals in the series. Game 1 was a 3-1 victory for Doom and it was followed by an objectively perfectly played game 2, 3-0 shutout. Goaltender John Powers let up just 3 goals in the playoffs for a 1.00 GAA. Wayne Egerer provided much of Doom's offense, scoring 4 of the teams 12 goals and adding 2 helpers in the playoffs.

FEDERAL LEAGUE S26: ARCHERS EARN FIRST FED TITLE

Oct 6, 2026

The Archers took an impressive season run and continued with bullseye precision in the playoffs. The Archers only loss of the regular season came against the Abominable Snowmen back in early August, the only blemish on a perfect regular season. Following a 4-3 victory over the Sewer Rats, the Snowmen would be the Archers semifinal matchup. Could the Snowmen ruin the playoffs as well for the Archers? Um, no . . .the Archers shutout the pesky Snowmen by a 6-0 score. The Archers would face the winner of the defending champions, Flat Tire and the free wheeling Comeback Kids. Tire ended up earning a hard fought 3-2 victory. That meant the 1 and 2 seeded, Archers and Flat Tire respectively would face off for the storied Le Coupe Federal. Game one would go to the defending champs, a Flat Tire 5-4 win. Just two days later in game two, another tightly battled match saw the Archers continuing the series with a 3-2 win. Game 3 would have to wait 12 days due to a scheduling quirk. The delay just built up the anticipation for the winner take all game. The Archers ended up with the 5-2 win in a game that was much closer than the score. Finally captain Jason Fischbach and his quiver of Archers had climbed back up to the mountaintop for a Federal League Championship

SUMMER 26 FRONTIER WRAPUP: FLYING DUTCHMEN END DELUCIAS RUN

Oct 6, 2026

The two time defending Frontier League Champions, the Fightin' Delucias faced off against 3 time Iron League Champs the Flying Dutchmen for the Summer 2026 Frontier league title. The Dutch entered as the 2 seed and earned a first round bye. The Delucias in the 3 spot needed to get by the Sloppy Joes in round one which they did convincing by a 6-2 margin. The semifinal matchups would see the Dutchmen scoring 8 times en route to an 8-5 win over the Ponies. On paper, the Delucia's trip to the finals looked suspect as they were to take on the regular season league leaders the Phantoms. Always a difficult draw, the Phantoms were on a roll, winning their last two regular season games by 16-2 and 17-5 scores. The Phantoms apparently should have saved some of that scoring for the playoffs as they were dismantled in the semis by a 10-3 score. The finals were set and the two squads who both play with some grit would grind it out in the finals. The Delucias were solid in game one and came out with a 6-2 W. Early in game two the determination of the veteran Dutchmen squad gave some pause to the Delucias hopes for a third straight title. The Dutchmen would eventually take both games 2 and 3 by 4-3 scores, dethroning the 2 time defending champs and adding a 7th title to Dutchmen's Legend Leagues of Hockey mantle. The title was their first in the Frontier after having won 2 Federal, 1 Pioneer and 3 Iron league crowns.
